Twin Cities APRS

There are a number of interesting and great websites/blogs that are local to Minnesota and the Twin Cities area, so I’m going to give a shoutout to my favorites. I’ll be putting a list together on the favorite websites page.

To start: Twin Cities APRS. This blog is maintained by Todd (KD0TLS) and has a wealth of information on the state of the APRS scene in Minnesota. He maintains it regularly with APRS updates for the local area, as well as APRS updates as well. I’ve only dipped my toe in APRS but his blog makes me more interested.

Odd bands

I’m trying 2 meter USB but have yet to get a response.  I’ve also tried 6 meters but not much luck there either.  Anyone around the Minneapolis area who would like to schedule a contact?   Email me at my callsign@my callsign.com

Hello world.

Despite getting my license almost 2 years ago, I’ve almost never gotten on the airwaves. I’m looking to change that in the near future, and also I’m planning on getting my general license soon.

Right now my main interest in radio is shortwave. I love listening to the different broadcasts out there and making recordings. QSLs are always fun too. I’ll be posting some recordings and QSLs I have in the near future.

I look forward to meeting new people on the air. See you out there.

In the meantime, here’s the gear I currently have:

2m/70cm:
-Baofeng UV-5R+
-Baofeng BF-F9V2+
-Tram 1185 Mag Mount Antenna

Shortwave:
-Sony ICF-SW7600GR
-Sony AN-LP1 Antenna

CB:
-Midland 75-822
-Midland 18-2442 Mag Mount Antenna
